“Another thing that was never missing was something to light the campfires for the nights. Also, to light the lanterns and dissipate the darkness, especially on those occasions when it got dark on the road before striking camp or making it to the inn. They were handy to keep the razor for shaving. And then, the pocket to keep the handy little mirror to use while shaving and not cut yourself while you are at it! Of course, you also needed somewhere to place your comb. That would come out when you approached a town. It was always good to look well-groomed and treated nicely and with respect while in the cities.”

“For those long nights, there was a little compartment where to place the cards, you know, the Spanish kind of playing cards. Then you needed somewhere to stash the dice, the ones you would roll to test your luck and see how it’s going. It’s up to each of us to try our fate because sometimes the nights are still young when the camp’s all set-up, and there is plenty of time to play out our luck and fortune. You being from other lands, let me tell you that us Paisas, we love a good bet. We particularly love the winning more than placing the bets. Picking a winner! Now, that is, without a shadow of doubt, what I would call a joy to the soul, my friend from far away places!”
