So we flew south for some time as we both were lost in our thoughts. Grandfather sighted the town before I did. I was expecting a major city and gazed at the town below with mixed feelings.

“But it’s not a city, that’s a village, Grand Daddy” I exclaimed surprised. “You said we were going to pick a street? That’s easy, there’s only two to choose from!”

Below, the town spread out on the seafront, on a corner that was formed where the huge lagoon entered the sea; there were houses facing the sea and others facing the lagoon, all sharing a grand waterfront view. One street ran north to south, parallel to the coast, and the other ran across it following the lagoon’s beachfront.

“In that case, we won’t have to bother too much about where to land, will we?” He countered, clearly enjoying himself at my expense.

Beyond any doubt, in that instant, Grandfather traveled back to his childhood. There he was, a twelve-year old boy sitting behind me. Mischievously grinning, he artfully pretended to fly his make-believe plane, and managed to pull me along with his games. I tried not to laugh, but how to help myself? He was totally contagious, and before I realized it, Grandfather playfully infected me with his buoyant mood and childish spirit.
