But tell me, would care for lunch? Today, we have a typical meal from these coffee-farm lands.”

“Yes, thank you. To tell the truth, I’m starving! You can’t imagine how hungry I feel. I believe I could even wolf down a pair of lunches.”

“How can that be, two lunches, my dear Sir?” she answered while chuckling.
“Now that would be something worth seeing! Do you know what a Bandeja Paisa is like?”

“No, I don’t, but I do hope it’s a hearty meal for someone with an enormous appetite like me!”

Doña Juli’s melodious laughter resounded merrily in the room as she answered:

“Well, we’re hungry, aren’t we? Two Bandejas Paisa! Now, that’s a sight I would love to see! I’ll tell you what. I will bring you the first, and if you finish it, the house will treat you to the second one. How does that sound?”

Jean Marie pondered the question for a few seconds. Meanwhile, his stomach rumbled once again.

This is quite strange; I’m rarely so hungry. I do hope that this Bandeja Paisa is as generous as she says it is. I’m quite sure that I can eat both plates, how big can it be. Of course, Doña Juli has never seen me when I’m as starved as an orphan, and it seems that today she’s buying lunch!

“That’s fine by me, Doña Julia. I’ll be happy to accept…”
