“That guy, Walker, was a gringo that wanted Central America as part of the USA. First, he tried to win Mexico over for the US, but the Mexicans took out their six shooters and, tequilas in hand, chased him and his army, back to the other side of the border. That story is a long one, and it’s also a complicated story. So, we’ll talk about it sometime later and we can go into all the juicy gossip. Getting back to the issue at hand with Granada; the people from Granada learned an important lesson after that incident. They have also learned that you must be careful with what you ask for in life. Not only that, also who you ask, as well. If you ask the devil for something, you might end up in a devilish mess, you see where I’m heading?

“Some people from Granada didn’t agree with the way that things were going. These upper-class persons wanted to change things around, and land themselves in the midst of the controlling power structure. It was their bright idea to pay Walker to invade Granada and deliver the city to them. But then, Walker was a power-starved mercenary, without ideals. He apparently agreed to their terms and then proceeded to loot and burn down the city in his own interest. By the time these scheming thugs realized the mess they were in, it was too late. After inviting the devil to the party, it was now time for them to jump in and dance with him as well!”

“So, there were Nicaraguans from Granada involved in Walker’s attack upon Granada, Grandfather?”

“It would seem you’re sharper than those fools, honey bunch, but for some reason or another, you’re the first of my grandchildren…”

    “Thanks, I think.”
