In fact, the artist had been able to draw some alluring sketches on that journey. In his own peculiar way, unlike most of the tourists, he didn’t carry a camera of any kind. No, in the simplicity of his art, he found the greatness of his delicate spirit… What he placed on his pad where the landscapes of his fertile imagination, capturing that clear perception of the outside world in his note pad made out of blank, white pages. These he filled with the broad strokes of freehand illustrations of his visual poetry, his own very personal interpretation of the world in which he ascertained himself as a passerby.
Crossing the plaza diagonally, he directed his steps towards the Hotel Carmen. The lodging was a little less than a half-block from the park and down a steeply-inclined street. Victor Hugo, the hotel’s owner, is definitely a kind and friendly kind of guy! Besides, I really like the hotel. This old-fashioned, Victorian mansion makes me feel more at home than in a lodging.
