“Finally, all that was left of those ancient seas was this lake and a few blind sharks.”

“Blind sharks?” I asked intrigued, and a bit incredulous, I must confess.

“That’s what I said,” he answered smiling. “You see, in all that long time the sea was receding, the ocean’s salt water gradually turned into this lake’s sweet water. Somehow they adapted to the new conditions. How? I don’t know. But, the sharks survived, and that is the important issue. These sharks are unique and are the only sweet water sharks in the world; similar to the sweet water dolphins in the Amazon River, who are the sole survivors of their kind as well. That’s the way life is. Sometimes our whole world, everything as we know it, changes. Though we do not agree with how everything has changed, we have to adapt to the new order of things. Either that or we won’t fit in the new scheme of things, and then, we’re left out. Just look at your own life. Unfortunately, how many things you’ve had to change because of the war” he added sadly.
