“All you have to do,” he said, “is place half an onion in each armpit, and then wait between ten to fifteen minutes, for the best results,” he continued explaining. “By that time, your body temperature should be in the neighborhood of 39 degrees.”

“It’s easy hon, nothing to it. Once the fever is nice and high, you’re going to wear your best Oh my God, I’ m about to die face! You get up and talk to your teacher. In a feeble voice you explain that you feel terrible, everything hurts: your head, your body, your throat, all the works. Now for the punch line, kid! Of course, I can pick you up immediately; indeed, I will take you to the doctor personally. At that point, I’ll run over, pick you up, and together we head for the airport. Atlantic Coast, here we come! We’re off to Laguna de Perlas!”
