The weekend niece. from the book, Searching for treasures

     The first and opening act was presented by the clowns. I came together with a performance by the circus’ trained dogs. Difficult to establish who was better, the canine stars or the clowns. By then, Oscar together with the rest of the guests had returned back to their childhood. As a matter of fact, his parents had never taken him to any sort of a circus. So, for that reason, he was finally caught for the very first time, under the unquestionable spell of the night’s spectacle.

     Held together, under a collective, bewitching enchantment, the night went by, alternating the different artists and their number. Each one of these routines was flawlessly orchestrated and set on the scene. A las.t there was a brief pause. Immediately, Oswaldo was back out on the stage, introducing the next part of the entertainment for that night:

     Ladies and Gentlemen! The Hermanos Garcia Circus is proud to present its most defying and unsurpassed act. A sheer and singular number, in which our Stars, The Great Odin, and the unparalleled Mariana Marroqui will face a duel with Death itself. From the soaring heights and only for you…”

     At the moment, all the lights were cut out except two powerful reflectors. Suddenly they were focusing on the vast cannon, while it reflected the illumination with its shiny metal structure radiating the light. Odin was standing, with his back perfectly straight, on the tip of the cannon.
