Doctor Carmona suggested that they go back to the circus and give Oscar a tour around the premises. That would also allow Oscar to begin to meet some of the people, and of course, the horsies, as they called their famous horses. Oscar spent the rest of the afternoon and the following day with Doctor Carmona, who introduced each of the forty-three horses while detailing the clinical history of each one of them. It’s redundant to say that Oscar was feeling elated and was also happy to be inducted to this strange new world by the kind veterinarian, who knew each one of circus animals thoroughly and held a particular fondness for all of them.

Gabriel looked him up on Friday to invite him to Arequipa’s Opening Night, later that evening.

“Here, take this box-pass to the Balcony seats reserved for our special guests. They are all influential people that can be a great help to us while we’re in Arequipa. This city is the second largest city in Peru and is a great city for us. The show begins at seven in the evening, but I suggest that you try to make it a little before that time. And like Casper the Ghost, I’m about to disappear. So many things and so little time till then. Have a good time and, I’ll see you after the show for the big celebration! By the way, Bro, I left a suit for you in your room: it’s brand new for you to dress up nice for tonight! You’re gonna love it, trust me on that one. You got to dress up in the proper clothes. So, if you have a TV, you can watch me there! Later” With that last comment, Gabriel was off running to get the show ready in time.
