For sixty minutes on each occasion, the city was covered in the most incredible, ear-splitting and totally deafening uproar that I have ever experienced!

It was an unbearable pandemonium, unleashed between the churches of the city (ringing their bells and chimes in the roof and bell towers) and all the buildings (and of course, the firecrackers going off in all the houses). As all this was going on simultaneously throughout León, the pedestrians walked the streets enthralled, admiring the gunpowder hanging in thick grey-blue clouds, blending with the multi-colored lights and the fireworks displayed in the background.

I can still feel that sense of excitement flowing through my veins! The thirst for adventure had awakened from its slumber, and it was searching for those sixty minutes of madness!
