He woke before the crack of dawn and was out of bed before the sun had risen to bathe the world with its daily splendor. In that pale light of a new day, Oscar left the farm, with a dream and a new life to follow. He slowly walked to Barichara; on the way, he said farewell to the landscapes of his childhood days, as well as, to the unforgettable moments of his youth. In each step a memory, in each step another moment of his life.

He left for San Gil on the six o’clock bus, carrying his backpack. Though it was light in weight, it was full of hopes and dreams. At San Gil, he had an arepa with cheese, for breakfast, at El Terminalito bus station. When he had finished, he took a bus to the Capital.

It was a relatively, short trip to Bogota, yet a whole life was waiting for him there, a brand, new world to discover!
Aware of how enormous the world that waited for him was, he made an apparently simple, but a meaningful decision. He selected to follow the Panamerican Highway, the long road that joins a continent and the three Americas, on its long way from Alaska, in the north, to Patagonia, in the extreme south.
