In hot lands

The heat has precisely reached an extreme point; to the moment which this anti-climate becomes an absolute, or rather, it turns into a matter that could well be said as: the truly unbearable and totally intolerable.

Not even this morning, as I hopped on the plane at Cochabamba City’s airport, did I run into this kind of heat. And in Cochabamba, we really can´t complain about cold weather, no sir! Yet, simply put, over there, you’ll never feel a damn, infernal scorcher like today’s sweltering heat, here in Sucre.

Well, this is understood only by those of us that live here, in these faraway reaches, found so far to the south of the continent. Normally and on a typical day, this hot weather is commonly found in cities like Cochabamba and Santa Cruz. These cities are from relatively lowlands, especially if you compare them to the elevated highlands so characteristic of this country.

Still, I would have never dreamed that this tremendous, suffocating, inhospitable hot weather would be expecting me. here in Sucre. Apparently, nobody warned the former Bolivian Capital, also known as the City of Eternal Spring, in time for it to chip in and cough up a batch of its famous and traditional beautiful weather.
