In his imagination, he recreated the flavours of his childhood
When they arrived at the clearing, they installed themselves comfortably in the shade of a pine tree. Quiet and clearly pensive, his Father unpacked the lunch.
His Mom had included some pork tamales, an assortment of goat and cow cheeses and lulo juice to refresh them. They ate while watching the landscape and the volcanoes in the background. Peacefully, they began to converse. Gradually the conversation steered towards his birthday on the following day.
“It’s hard to believe that you will be nine years old, my son. I find it very difficult to understand, how time happened to go by so quickly.”
“To me, Dad, it seems to have taken long enough. Ever since Mom began to talk about my birthday party, at home, it seems like more years have gone by, than the nine years I am about to celebrate.”
