Definitely, Carito’s natural gift was surprising. Before she was eight years old, she could maintain a complete conversation with any of the horses at the ranch. But she didn’t stop there. Insomuch as her interaction with them, she learned to handle herself, within their complex social roles, finally integrating herself as one more in the herd.
